The Aftermath

“Epic love story has only love between two people but does not have ‘they lived happily ever after.’”

I sit here in silence
surrounded by the echoes
of who we used to be.

I sit here in silence
This Darkness is my companion
how did it get ahold of me?

I sit here in silence
The memories of our past
clasp my throat; I am choking.

I sit here in silence
The tears of your love
in my eyes, are blinding me.

I sit here in silence
There’s a void inside of me
it’s where your promises used to be.

I sit here in silence
Dealing with the aftermath
of an epic love. Your love.

I breathe in. I breathe out.

Inhale. Exhale.

The repeated lines are making strong enough to go in depth about consequences in each stanza. Did it happen in your life? I had experienced. It was really tough to wake up and come into the reality to live in the present moment. It’s superb expression…

Thank you for that positive response! So glad you thought so. No, I haven’t personally been through this. It’s just how I perceive heartbreak to be. Ah yes, giving up on the beauty of the past and the delight it held is rather difficult when the reality isn’t as pretty. Though, I do think that is important to go through these events because they have the potential to make us a stronger and better version of ourselves. Thank you so much!

Hey Radhika, yes indeed, it is. I consider love to be one of the purest things, and to think, that it would leave such lament in its wake! I am really glad you thought so. Thank you for this supportive comment and for taking the time to read. Have a happy day. 🌺

Hey Harsh, ahh yes, a love so powerful it leaves a calamity in its wake. The best thing to have and the worst thing to lose. I am really glad you like that part! Thank you for your kind comment and for taking the time to read. Have a great day. 🌹

Well, yes, you showed the problem of anything that is great: the fallout might be greater: “Dealing with the aftermath of an epic love.” The power of love is also its danger on the flip side. Good post! Made me think.

Hi Benjamin, ahh yes, word to the wise right there. Love can be a person’s greatest strength or his downfall. I do hope it never comes to that for anyone, though. But oh well, sometimes it’s fate. I am so pleased you enjoyed this poem. Thank you for this lovely comment and for taking the time to read. Have a great day! 🌺

Hey Harsh, ahhh I am so glad you thought so! Love is an awfully confusing topic. Fits perfectly with a happy theme and fits perfectly with an eerie, sorrowful theme. I am really glad you enjoyed reading this. Have a happy day. 🌹

Hi Ayush, ahh thank you for your kind and lovely words. This isn’t based on anything I have experienced though. Just what I have seen and how I perceive heartbreak to be. Thank you for taking the time to read. Have a lovely day. 🌺
